About the Firm

A waypoint is a fixed reference. So is good tax work.

Waypoint Tax Advisory is a San Antonio-based tax preparation and advisory firm. We work with individuals and small businesses who want a preparer with a process — someone who reads the file before the meeting, documents the work, and explains the return before signing it.

We intentionally keep our client list small. Fewer clients means every file gets full attention, every question gets a real answer, and nothing falls through the cracks.

The name comes from aviation. A waypoint is a fixed navigational reference that confirms your position and defines your route. Waypoint was founded by a retired U.S. Army helicopter pilot who spent a career where checklists and precision were not optional. That same standard applies here.

Precision

Every return is reviewed against source documents. We don't file what we can't support.

Clarity

You'll understand your return before you sign it. Plain language, no jargon, no surprises.

Direction

Filing is a snapshot. Advisory work is the map. We help you plan for what's next, not just report what happened.

Controlled Volume

We limit client intake deliberately. It is a commitment to quality, not a capacity constraint.

What We Do

Services

01 Individual Tax Preparation

Federal and Texas returns for W-2 employees, freelancers, rental property owners, retirees, and investors. 1040 and all supporting schedules. We collect your documents securely, prepare the return, review it with you, and file it.

02 Small Business Returns

Schedule C, partnerships, S-corporations, and LLCs. Coordinated with your bookkeeping records. We work with sole proprietors through small multi-member entities and will tell you clearly what we need to do the job right.

03 Nonprofit Returns

Form 990 preparation for tax-exempt organizations. We understand the unique compliance requirements nonprofits face and work with boards and treasurers who need a preparer that knows the difference between a 990-N, 990-EZ, and full 990. Because the 990 is a public document, we also advise on how your filing reflects your organization's story and stewardship to donors and the public.

04 Tax Advisory

Quarterly planning, estimated payment calculations, entity structure questions, and forward-looking strategy. If you want to understand how a decision will affect your taxes before you make it, that is what advisory is for.

How We Work

Every client. Every return. The same process.

01 Intake

You reach out, we talk through your situation, confirm scope, and send an engagement letter. No surprises about what's included.

02 Collection

Documents are collected through a secure portal. We send you a checklist so you know exactly what we need and nothing gets missed.

03 Preparation

Your return is prepared and reviewed against your source documents. We resolve any questions before the return reaches you.

04 Review and File

We walk you through the return before you sign anything. Once you authorize it, we file electronically and confirm receipt.
